In the ruins of an abandoned village, the mice thrived. Homes were plentiful, food abundant, and for the first time, they lived without fear of human cruelty. Yet their joy was shadowed by one peril: each day, a herd of elephants thundered through the village on their way to the lake, crushing countless mice beneath their mighty feet.
The king of mice, trembling but resolute, approached the king of elephants. "Great one, your herd slays my family without knowing. Spare us this path, and though small, we promise to repay your kindness." The elephant king, amused, replied, "How could creatures so tiny aid the mighty? Still, we will alter our way."
Days later, the herd was ensnared in a hunter's net. Struggling and helpless, the elephants remembered the mice's promise. Summoned, the mice came in hundreds, sharp teeth cutting swiftly through rope. The net fell, and the elephants were free.
